Exclusive BattlBox Recipes to Celebrate National BBQ Month
May is National BBQ Month! To celebrate, we’re letting you in on a few of our favorite recipes shared from YOU, our loyal subscribers, from the BattlBox forum.
The following recipe and commentary comes from forum user dageaux1209
Ingredients:
½ cup kosher salt
½ cup brown sugar
4 tbsp paprika
2 tbsp chili powder
2 tbsp granulated onion
2 tsp granulated garlic
4 tsp black powder
This has yielded some great results for me and generally gets a lot of compliments.
If you like a sweeter sauce with a bit of a spicy finish to it, you can try this. I have people that ask for jars of this every time I make a large batch.
Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup honey
⅓ cup A1 Tabasco
⅔ cup A1 original
If you can't find the Tabasco version of the A1, substitute the original in its place. This sauce is great on everything from ribs to chicken or pork chops. I even have a few buddies that put it on their burgers as well.
I would love to hear some feedback from anyone that actually tries these two recipes out. I have plenty of other rub or sauce recipes that I would be glad to share. Just depends on what is being cooked.
And this one comes from forum user ElOso
This a Carolina rub I like for ribs.
Ingredients:
2 tbsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp ground cumin
2 tbsp chili powder
2 tbsp fresh ground black pepper
1 tbsp cayenne pepper
¼ cup paprika
½ cup yellow mustard
3 tbsp brown sugar
Beer, slowly added
Mix together to make a slather to your liking
Grill at 220-240 degrees for 3 hours
After 3 hours, put in tin foil
Rub both sides with brown sugar and 8 oz Dr. Pepper
Wrap up really well
Cook 1 hour
Remove tin foil after 1 hour
If ribs have shrunk, you’re done! If not, put on grill for 1 more hour
Enjoy!
