A-TAC Ghost

The Ghost Folding Knife is a creation that is a perfect everyday carry for the hunter, outdoorsman, and frontline professional.The combination serrated and straight edge blade allows for both precision and aggressive cuts.This knife was designed by Adam Seegmiller. Adam actually contributed by sending this letter of his story behind the design:

The knife design came about because of my frustration with all of the other folders I carried on deployment overseas.

The majority of the 6 years I was deployed I wore plain clothes while doing personal protection work. Often, when I would bring VIPs into various government ministries, the host nation would prohibit weapons inside so I would try to get through with at least a folder.The folders were either too big or too small.The big folders robust enough to fight with were too large and overt to get inside resulting in me getting stopped at access points or getting the knife seized. On the other hand, the small folders were easier to conceal and I could sneak them inside, however, they were too small to actually use for defense.

When operating in quasi permissive environments without firearms. I would go for a morning run and clip a folder inside my shorts. More often than not, it was an uncomfortable run as the knife would dig into my hip.

As a result of all this, I went on a hunt for a folder that was thin enough to wear comfortably but robust enough to fight with. I couldn’t find anything that fit what I needed, so I decided to create my own.

I wanted a knife that was thin enough to fit comfortably in my pocket or waistband for appendix carry.

Also, I wanted a glass break but one that wasn’t at the end of the handle of the knife like most are. This was critical for me as I wanted a knife I could grasp it in a reverse grip to be able to fight with.

I also wanted a tool with a seatbelt cutter. I was well aware that having a rescue tool on your person after a crash or IED strike could mean that difference between life and death. However, I knew from experience that most cutters built into the handle actually cut the pants pocket overtime, which is why I decided to have the Ghost’s cutter tucked inside the handle, easily accessible but not cutting pants accidentally.

When I tried the knife as a prototype, I had a few Operator buddies wear it and use it. One buddy came back and said it was the first folder he wore all day that he never actually felt in his pocket. He said it felt like a Ghost, you know it’s there, but you can’t feel it, and thus the knife was namedThe Ghost.
